My Recent Appointment as Women's Ministry Director for SOLA (TGC Quebec)

It all began with an innocuous post on a FB French group for theology nerds. I asked if any church existed in the French-speaking world with a full-time paid women's ministry director. A long thread of comments ensued, but the gist of the answer was no. Churches are so small and resources are so scarce, that not one church in our theological tradition can afford to pay a woman to serve in such a position.

The same day I posted the question, the director of SOLA, Pastor Yanick Ethier, reached out to me. Familiar with my ministry thanks to his friendship with Dan (who serves on the SOLA council), he had an offer to make me: Would I come on as the Women's Ministry Director for The Gospel Coalition Quebec. They couldn't afford to pay me full-time, but a stipend to cover one-day/week of work was a welcome gesture, demonstrating a posture of respect and appreciation for women's valuable contribution to the Church.

Along with Dan, I remain, therefore, a faith missionary, depending on the generous partnership of churches and individuals. That hasn't changed. The stipend SOLA gives me is simply helping us meet our ongoing support needs.

My mandate with SOLA is to train women teachers in Bible exposition so that they will be better equipped to put their spiritual gifts to use in the context of the local church. As has been the case since we joined Crossworld, our mission is multiplication through leadership development. Stay tuned for upcoming projects with SOLA in 2022.
